Goal of the day: Alessandro Florenzi (AS Roma) vs Genoa
Table of Contents
A wonderful opener from Alessandro Florenzi was the pick of the goals as AS Roma demolished Genoa 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
With the Giallorossi having lost their previous league outing to Juventus, only a win would do for Rudi Garcia's men.
Roma began the stronger of the two sides but they needed a moment of absolute magic to break the deadlock.
Francesco Totti earned a free-kick just outside the area in the 25th minute, and although the set piece was poor, it still caused some panic in the Genoa box.
Radja Nainggolan and Thomas Manfredini challenged for the rebound, which looped into the air.
Florenzi, with his back to the goal, watched it come down to hit an incredible bicycle kick which went in off the foot of the post.
Not even Florenzi seemed to believe it as the 22-year-old ran to the touchline with his hands on his head.
Totti doubled the lead four minutes later before Maicon added a third just before the break and Mehdi Benatia completed the scoring early in the second-half.
