Kevin-Prince Boateng assaulted in street on Christmas Day

Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng admitted himself to hospital on Christmas Day after being assaulted in a street in Kaarst, near Düsseldorf.
According to German newspaper Bild, Boateng was leaving the house of his ex-wife after visiting his son on Christmas Day when he was attacked by an unknown assailant and fell onto a vase as a result.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan player is reported to have suffered bruises to his ribs, back and neck and was treated at a local hospital.
"On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at around 12.45, an incident of physical assault took place in Kaarst," read a police statement.
"A 26-year-old man, a resident of Meerbusch, was physically attacked on the street by a currently unidentified man.
"There are indications that the motive for the crime is connected to the personal affairs of the 26-year-old.
"The man was mildly injured. Criminal investigators have begun their work."
