Goal of the day: Gary Hooper (Norwich) vs Swansea
Table of Contents
A stunning long-range effort from Gary Hooper earned Norwich City a 1-1 draw with Swansea City at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon.
Swansea made a bright start and took the lead after 12 minutes when Nathan Dyer latched onto a long ball and calmly lifted his effort over John Ruddy.
Norwich finished the half brightly before levelling proceedings in first-half injury time with a goal of the highest quality.
There looked little danger when Steven Whittaker's long ball was expertly knocked down by Johan Elmander into the path of Hooper.
What followed was an exceptional piece of skill as Hooper took one touch on his chest before unleashing a stunning volley past Michel Vorm, much to the amazement of the home crowd.
"It's a super goal from Gary, and the timing was perfect," Norwich boss Chris Hughton told Sky Sports.
"I think anybody seeing that will agree it's a wonderful strike.
"He's quality, and he's used to scoring goals. What's pleasing is that it's a chance out of nothing.
"When somebody can produce something from nothing, it's clearly special. He has that type of ability."
