Maximiliano Pereira put the visitors ahead midway through the first half and Christian Stuani made it 2-0 shortly before the interval.
Nicolás Lodeiro and Cristian Rodríguez netted further goals for the visitors in the second half before Cavani wrapped up the win with a stunning free-kick in stoppage time.
Adnan Hasan was penalised for a very high tackle 20 yards out and Cavani stepped up to curl a swerving free-kick into the far top corner past the unmoved Jordan goalkeeper Mohammad Shatnawi.
