Danish firm JBS Textiles have hired space at the city's town hall to promote the line of underwear bearing the Real Madrid player's name, complete with a 19-metre tall billboard of the man himself.

Ronaldo is working with JBS for the production of his underwear collection. JBS is a Danish underwear and socks company that is family-owned and exports worldwide with ten well-known brands.

CR7 is also launching a boys underwear and socks line with two different styles, a boxer brief and American boxers available in four different sizes.

Ronaldo's new underwear range will be available worldwide starting November 1 on www.cr7underwear.com

"I am very proud to officially launch CR7 today and especially to see my campaign image displayed in this beautiful building, one of the most famous landmarks in Madrid," Ronaldo told the press.

"I put a lot of passion and dedication into creating this new underwear line and I am very proud that the collection is launching worldwide today."

The 28-year-old has previously modelled for Emporio Armani, but his latest campaign marks an inaugural brand venture and his first attempt at fashion designing.

Ronaldo added: "Fashion and design are two passions of mine and I have wanted to launch my own brand for a long time.

"Working on this collection has given me a great creative outlet and I have loved every part of collaborating on the range, from selecting the colours and designs to testing the styles and fits myself."

The designer behind the collection is American designer Richard Chai, who has worked as a designer for Donna Karan and was the Design Director for Marc Jacobs' the men's and women's collection from 1998 to 2001.

"The amazing thing about this project is that you have someone like Cristiano Ronaldo who is the most recognized and most celebrated athlete in the world starting a project - that makes sure it's done with integrity," Chai commented about working on the collection.

Ronaldo, of course, is not the first footballer to take advantage of his fame and athletic frame by modelling a range of skimpy underwear.

David Beckham first launched his underwear line for Armani and socks for H&M, while Freddie Ljungberg was used as Calvin Klein's model.
