Villarreal maintained their unbeaten home league record this season after a 4-1 home win over local rivals Valencia with Giovani dos Santos scoring goal of the night.
The hosts were pegged back in the early exchanges but they started to take advantage of stray passes by Valencia and the Yellow Submarine are not the kind of team to let that go unpunished.
Ikechukwu Uche opened the scoring for Villarreal after 17 minutes with Hernán Pérez doubling the lead five minutes later.
Giovani made it 3-0 four minutes into the second half before Ricardo Costa pulled a goal back for Valencia in the 63rd minute.
However, Giovani secured an emphatic win with a sensational long-range strike six minutes from time.
Bruno Soriano picked out the run of Giovani and the Mexican danced past his marker before curling home a brilliant 25-yard effort past Vicente Guaita.
