Darlington Nagbe opened the scoring for Portland in the 41st minute before Camilo equalised with a deflected free-kick from over 30 yards out.

Almost before they were done celebrating, though, the visitors stormed back down the other end of the field and restored the one-goal lead through Will Johnson.

However, moments later, with some in the crowd still groaning, Camilo scored a brilliant scissor-kick volley that will no doubt be considered for MLS Goal of the Year.

After a marauding build-up down the left, Darren Mattocks' cross found Lee Young-Pyo overlapping on the right side.

The Korean veteran pulled back for Camilo near the top of the box, and the Brazilian went airborne to conjure a flying, acrobatic overhead kick that beat Donovan Ricketts.

"It was just an incredible passage of play," Whitecaps coach Martin Rennie said afterwards.

"I think moments like that make you happy to be involved with soccer. That's why we come out to games, goals like that and excitement like that."

Even Portland goalkeeper Ricketts was impressed with Camilo's golazo.

"That was a special goal," said Ricketts with a broad smile.
