There was a bizarre incident in the Eredivisie last weekend as Groningen defender Timo Letschert fainted immediately after being sent off.
In the 11th minute of his side's match against Heerenveen, Letschert was shown a red card for tackling Luciano Slagveer with his head.
Letschert was stunned by the decision, but apparently also by the collision, as the 20-year-old fainted on the spot and had to be stretchered off the pitch.
Heerenveen ended up winning 4-2, with both sides having another player sent off during the match.
Letschert was given a three-match ban for the tackle and he was well enough to appeal his punishment on Monday.
