Table of Contents
A stunning Djamel Mesbah opener led Parma to a first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Wednesday evening.
The hosts enjoyed a strong start and went ahead in the 19th minute through Mesbah's bullet strike.
A poor clearance led to the ball collected by Mesbah and the Algerian then curled a shot from the edge of the area into the top corner.
Giacomo Bonventura levelled a minute later, but a brace from Marco Parolo and another from Aleandro Rosi handed Parma a 4-1 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half.
Germán Denis reduced the arrears just before the break and although Atalanta substitute Marko Livaja cut the deficit 4-3 with 11 minutes remaining, the Gialloblu held on for victory.
"We started well with a great goal by Djamel Mesbah, so nice that we lost focus for a while," Parma coach Roberto Donadoni noted afterwards.
