Wolverhampton Wanderers were dumped out of the Capital One Cup after Ryan Williams' stunning late free-kick sent Morecambe through to the second round of the competition.
Wolves had their chances on Tuesday, but hit the woodwork on three occasions through Matt Doherty, Leigh Griffiths, and Zeli Ismail.
With the game seeming to be heading for extra-time, Williams popped up with the winning goal in the 83rd minute.
Morecambe midfielder Andrew Fleming was dragged down by Doherty on the edge of the Wolves area.
Up stepped Williams to hit the resulting free-kick ferociously over the wall and past Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme to send the home fans into raptures.
"That's what football is all about. To win it late on with a well-taken free kick, that had the makings of a really good cup tie," Morecambe manager Jim Bentley told Sky Sports News.
