The visiting side took a surprise third-minute lead through a sensational strike from debutant Maatsen at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Stuart Kettlewell laid the ball off to the former Excelsior Rotterdam forward at the edge of the area.

And Maatsen punished some slack defending by unleashing a rasping shot that flew past Fraser Forster and in off the crossbar.

Celtic were level by the half-hour when Anthony Stokes bundled home from close range after Mikael Lustig’s scrambled effort was blocked.

It looked as though Derek Adams's side had done enough to earn a shock draw, but Stokes had other ideas as his late strike ensured Celtic got their title defence off to a winning start.
