Spain and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has confirmed that he and his partner Sara Carbonero are set to become parents for the first time.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, the pair sought to maintain their future parenthood as a secret until they could find a suitable time to break the news.
Last Wednesday, though, they told their closest family and trusted friends when they met in a bar in the Malasaña district at the heart of the Spanish capital.
Carbonero, who is a journalist for Tele 5, is believed to be 13 weeks pregnant.
"We're very happy," the couple told El Mundo at Barajas Airport in Madrid before going on vacation with Carbonero.
"I'm going to have a baby from La Mancha," Casillas added referring to Carbonero's city of origin.
The couple have been dating since 2009 but confirmed their relationship in 2010, right before Spain's World Cup run in South Africa.
