Goal of the day: Clément Grenier (Lyon) vs Real Madrid
Table of Contents
Olympique Lyon midfielder Clément Grenier scored a wonder goal en route to a 2-2 friendly draw against Real Madrid in front of a sell-out crowd at the Stade de Gerland on Wednesday.
The hosts started the brightest and they took the lead in the 20th minute through a spectacular effort from Grenier.
There appeared to be little danger to the Madrid goal when Alexandre Lacazette whipped in a low cross from the right wing.
But it reached Grenier, who, while moving away from goal, managed to whip his leg around and scored with an outrageous flick that Diego López could only stand and watch.
Lisandro López doubled the advantage just after the hour mark, but late goals from Álvaro Morata and Casemiro earned the Spanish giants a share of the spoils.
"I saw (Grenier) and passed to him, but his strike was amazing," Lacazette said after the game. "That will just give him more confidence."
