Own Golazo: Bernard Parker (South Africa) vs Ethiopia
Table of Contents
Bernard Parker went from hero to zero as his world class own-goal gave Ethiopia a 2-1 triumph over South Africa and ended any chance of the Bafana Bafana playing in the 2014 World Cup.
Parker put South Africa ahead in the 33rd minute, but the advantage was short lived as Getaneh Kebede equalized just before half-time.
The visitors, though, were the masters of their own downfall as Parker once again found the net, but this time at the wrong end.
In the 70th minute, Parker rose to meet a free-kick and head powerfully past his own keeper, before dropping to the ground face down.
It was a freak own goal as the home side had not threatened in the second half.
