Table of Contents
An Eduardo Vargas cracker inspired Chile to an important 2-1 win at Paraguay to give their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign a boost.
Though clear chances were few and far between in the first period, a moment of individual brilliance eventually unlocked the game.
In the 40th minute, Arturo Vidal came speeding down the left flank, chasing a ball that looked like it was on its way out.
The Juventus midfielder amazingly managed to keep the ball in play though, squaring a clever pass to Esteban Paredes.
Paredes then cut it back to Marcelo Díaz who laid it off to Vargas, who thumped the ball just outside the area and into the top corner.
Vidal doubled the lead in the 56th minute before experienced striker Roque Santa Cruz netted a late consolation goal.
