After a scoreless first half that saw a combined 13 shots between the two teams, Nagbe broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute.

Standing inside the 18-yard box, the 22-year-old received a pass from Kalif Alhassan and started toward the end line.

With Dallas defender George John at his back, Nagbe spun and hit a no-look, curler that goalkeeper Raúl Fernández could only watch sail to the far corner.

"Tremendous goal, obviously," said Timbers coach Caleb Porter after the match.

"He can pull off a play like that at times. You'd wish he'd do it more, but he's capable of that type of goal. I've seen him do it a number of times."

Nagbe's mother was in the stands after flying in from Ohio the night before.

"She's never gotten to see me score in person, so this is special today," Nagbe said. "Once it went in I definitely thought about that."
