Watford took the lead against the run of play in the 40th minute when Joel Ekstrand headed Almen Abdi's corner across goal and Troy Deeney hammered it home from six yards.

Before the travelling Watford fans had even composed themselves, the Hornets found a second goal that stunned the King Power Stadium into silence.

There seemed little threat when Abdi miscontrolled a pass which fell into the stride of Chalobah 30 yards from goal.

And the 18-year-old, on loan from Chelsea, let fly with his right foot and watched as the ball struck the underside of the crossbar and dropped behind the line at a ferocious pace.

Leicester pulled a goal back in the 61st minute through Harry Kane's header but could not find an equalizer.

"I couldn't have caught it any better. It sat up nicely for me and I thought, why not?" said Chalobah after the match.

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola added: "Nathaniel is capable of goals like that. He does have it in his bag. Sometimes you have to trust your instinct and let things happen."
