Table of Contents
Gonzalo Higuaín stole the show with his stunning goal in Real Madrid's 5-1 rout of Levante on Saturday evening at the Bernabéu.
After a slow start to the game, Levante stunned the home fans as Michel scored on the break to put his side ahead just after the half-hour mark.
Higuaín ensured that Los Merengues only remained behind for five minutes with a moment of pure brilliance.
Xabi Alonso delivered a characteristic pin-point cross which the Argentine met with an acrobatic volley that gave Gustavo Munúa no chance and flew straight into the net.
The score was overturned just three minutes later as Kaká converted from the penalty spot after a handball by Christian Lell inside the area.
José Mourinho's men killed the game off on 84 minutes as substitute Cristiano Ronaldo slammed in a third before Mesut Özil scored twice in the closing moments to secure a slightly flattering scoreline.
"I saw the centre-back slip and I decided to strike it first and luckily it went in," Higuaín said in his post-match interview.
"It was a great goal and it drew things up."
