Saphir Taïder, Alessandro Diamanti and Cristian Pasquato all scored fantastic goals as Bologna crushed 10-man Cagliari with a 3-0 win at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Sunday.
It did not take them long to hit the front and they were ahead after just five minutes.
Taïder played a clever one-two with Alberto Gilardino and collected the return before crashing a shot into the net from the edge of the box.
Diamanti doubled the advantage midway through the second half with one of the best goals of his career.
The 29-year-old ran down the right flank, cut in on to his left foot and curled a superb strike past Michael Agazzi from a difficult angle.
It got from bad to worse for Cagliari as Francesco Pisano was shown a straight red card for his very high studs-up tackle on Archimede Morleo.
By this point, it was all one way traffic and within five minutes of coming on, Bologna made it 3-0 with another wonderful strike.
Pasquato, who came on for Manolo Gabbiadini just minutes earlier, received the ball from Taïder and drilled a right footed shot from outside the box into the top corner.
"Our fans suffer, but every now and then we give them wonderful sensations," said Bologna coach Stefano Pioli.
