Table of Contents
Left-back Shane Lowry clinched a 2-0 npower Championship victory at London rivals Charlton Athletic with a phenomenal long-rage strike.
Jermaine Easter, signed on loan from Crystal Palace 48 hours earlier, made a sensational impact by scoring with his very first touch after coming on as a 57th-minute substitute.
And the visitors doubled their advantage in spectacular fashion as the clock reached 65.
Bradley Pritchard fouled Smith some 35 yards out and Lowry curled a superb, dipping free-kick past a stunned Charlton goalkeeper David Button for a memorable first goal of the season.
And Millwall boss Kenny Jackett was full of praise for the Australian defender.
He said: "I cannot say he has necessarily practiced that but he showed fantastic confidence.
"There was no disguise on it, he just took the responsibility and the keeper had no chance. It was a great strike. It was an outstanding free-kick and I was really pleased he took it on.
"It is one thing doing that on the training ground but it's another thing doing it in front of a crowd. It was a great free-kick and the keeper had no chance - it sailed in."
