Table of Contents
Italy forward Mario Balotelli netted a superb equalizer to salvage a 2-2 draw with Brazil in an entertaining friendly in Geneva on Thursday.
The tie in Switzerland looked to be over at half-time with the Seleção up 2-0 thanks to some superb goals from Fred and Oscar.
Italy provided an impressive fight back early in the second half, though, with Daniele De Rossi cutting Brazil's advantage with a clever flick.
Less than three minutes later, Italy were level - and in even more spectacular style.
Balotelli received a misplaced pass, turned and drove towards Brazil's goal.
And as the South American defenders backed off, the AC Milan striker bent in a sensational effort that flew over the gloves of Júlio César and into the top corner.
It was Balotelli's sixth goal in his 18th appearance for his nation.
"Balotelli had chances and he did well with his goal," Italy coach Cesare Prandelli told reporters.
"His first thought is always that of the team and this is the attitude of a champion.
"He has great potential and can become one of the best five players in the world. He just needs to find some consistency."
