In front of the 19,010-strong crowd at the Suncorp Stadium, Sydney failed to show the necessary desperation against a Roar side, who made the most of an error-riddled effort from the visitors.

Disaster struck Sydney in the 30th minute when a rare mistake from talisman Alessandro Del Piero led to Besart Berisha scoring the opener.

Any hopes of Sydney revival were dashed after the half-time break, with Steven Luštica again capitalising on an error from the Sky Blues to double their lead on 51 minutes.

And Franjic ensured the three points with Brisbane's third goal in the 79th minute.

Teed up by Thomas Broich, Franjic unleashed a stunning right-footed curler that was too good for Sydney goalkeeper Ivan Necevski and flew just inside the far post.

Del Piero made up for his first-half error with a penalty in the dying minutes, but it was too little, too late.
