Lars Lagerbäck's team were made to work hard for their second consecutive away victory after falling behind to Milivoje Novakovič's 34th-minute opener in Ljubljana.

The hosts proceeded to dictate the tempo until they were undone by a moment of individual brilliance from Sigurðsson ten minutes into the second period.

From 25 yards out, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder found the top corner with a sensational free-kick to draw Iceland level and stun the home crowd into silence.
