Table of Contents
Jordi Amat opened his account in the top flight with a wonder goal on Sunday as Rayo Vallecano were beaten 2-1 at home by Real Valladolid.
Both teams were committed to playing attractive football with a lot of short passes, but It took until the last twenty minutes for the match to really come to life.
The visitors took the lead in the 71st minute thanks to an own goal by Amat, who had risen in the air to challenge Henrique Sereno.
But the defender soon redeemed himself for his mistake with an outstanding goal.
Almost immediately after the restart, Amat collected the ball just to the left of the center circle, looked up at the goal and spotted Valladolid goalkeeper Dani well off his line.
He then lofted a stunning measured strike from just over the halfway line that Dani was able to get his fingertips on but failed to keep the ball out of his net.
The 20-year-old had never scored a professional goal before, but the strike was an impressive way to open his account.
However, Angolan striker Manucho scored on 79 minutes to end a four-match winless streak for Valladolid.
