Goal of the day: Jefferson (Estoril) vs Sporting Lisbon
Table of Contents
Estoril left-back Jefferson scored a stunning goal to inflict a 3-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon at the 8,000-capacity Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota on Friday.
Sporting opened the scoring after just five minutes when Ricky van Wolfswinkel tucked home from Bruma's excellent ball into the box.
But the home side fought back and it was no great surprise when the equaliser arrived nine minutes before the interval.
A short corner caught Sporting unawares, allowing Jefferson to cut inside, fake a cross and drive further infield before unleashing an unstoppable effort beyond Rui Patrício to level the scores.
Steven Vitória made it 2-1 from the penalty spot two minutes before half time and Carlos Eduardo then sealed a famous triumph for Estoril in the 78th minute.
