Goal of the day: Graham Carey (St. Mirren) vs Hearts

St. Mirren winger Graham Carey scored the goal of his life in a 2-0 home victory over Hearts on Wednesday evening.

The home side took an early lead in Paisley when Paul McGowan struck a penalty after a foul by Darren Barr.

But it was a contender for goal of the season from Carey that warmed the St. Mirren fans' hearts as they made their way home on a bitterly cold night.

After a Hearts move broke down in the Saints' half, the 23-year-old helped his side launch a counter-attack.

He started off with a neat one-two, followed that with a cheeky nutmeg and then exchanged another set of passes with a team-mate.

Carey then cut inside and with little going on ahead of him, he decided to unleash a scorcher that flew more than 30 yards from his left boot into the roof of Jamie MacDonald's net

"He's got that in his locker and it doesn't surprise us because we see him doing it on a daily basis," St. Mirren manager Danny Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland.

"That's what he's capable of and the timing of it was absolutely fantastic."
