Goal of the day: Kevin Volland (Hoffenheim) vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Table of Contents
Teenage Hoffenheim striker Kevin Volland scored an audacious back-heeled beauty in their 2-1 defeat away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Martin Lanig fired Eintracht ahead in the 35th minute when his shot took a deflection off of Hoffenheim defender Matthieu Delpierre and made its way over the goal line.
The visitors had struggled to impose themselves in the opening 45 minutes, but they battled back after the break and finally found the equaliser in sensational fashion with 25 minutes to play.
Andreas Beck drilled in from the right-hand side and Volland snuck in front of his marker to flick the ball home past Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp with a cheeky back heel.
Their revival was short-lived though, Stefan Aigner tapped in minutes later to restore the home side's lead.
Hoffenheim couldn't muster up another comeback and Frankfurt had no problems playing down the clock to earn all three points.
