In what was a quiet first half, Zenit took the lead on 25 minutes thanks to Viktor Fayzulin who was allowed to head in at the far post.

But Rubin needed less than 10 minutes in the second half to turn things around.

Bibras Natkho made it 1-1 by converting a penalty in the 52nd minute after Zenit defender Nicolas Lombaerts fouled Rubin midfielder Aleksandr Ryazantsev inside the area.

And Finnish international Eremenko grabbed the winner nine minutes later.

Eremenko let off a swerving shot from 25 yards out that suddenly fell into the far corner, leaving Zenit goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev stranded.
