Napoli took the lead before the half hour mark with a well-taken goal from Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

Just as Napoli were putting on the pressure, Juventus equalised with Asamoah's first goal in a Bianconeri jersey.

A long ball from left to right by Arturo Vidal was lashed into the bottom corner with a perfectly executed 18-yard volley from the Ghana international.

Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis got a hand to it at the near post, but couldn't stop the powerful finish squirming in off the wet turf.

Goran Pandev pounced on a defensive error to regain Napoli's advantage before half time but Vidal leveled for Juventus in the 73rd minute from the penalty spot.

And the match swung the Italian champions' way when Pandev, Juan Camilo Zúñiga were all sent off in the last five minutes of regular time, while their coach Walter Mazzarri was also sent off for dissent.

Juventus then took full advantage of their additional men in the extra time with Napoli defender Christian Maggio scoring an own goal and Mirko Vučinić putting the game beyond doubt.

"We played a very difficult game, as Napoli are a side to be respected and not a 'normal' team," said Asamoah to the Italian media.

"We didn't give up in the first half when trailing 2-1, fought back and then scored twice in extra time. This showed the team spirit."
