A 10-year-old girl from Scotland has been signed up to play for Italian giants AC Milan while enjoying a family holiday kickaround in Spain.
Aisha Saini from Lenzi, East Dunbartonshire took part in what her family thought a football tournament at the resort in La Manga without realising that the tournament had been organised by the Rossoneri.
And after five days, scouts from the Italian giants asked permission to sign her up to their European academy annual tournament – thus becoming the first girl ever to do so.
"We are so proud of her," said her father, Michael, a roofing business owner.
"We just enrolled her to keep her busy because we thought she might be bored. I couldn’t believe it when it turned out scouts from Milan were watching.
"The scouts said they have never asked a girl to join their academy before but they saw her play and knew immediately she would be able to hold her own among a load of boys."
Aisha, who only took up football three years ago when she joined Lenzie Youth Club, was also stunned by the invitation.
She said: "I didn't know the coaches were watching me until they told us after the final training session. I was so excited when they said they'd chosen me."
