Goal of the day: Enzo Pérez (Benfica) vs Real Madrid
Table of Contents
Enzo Pérez produced a brilliant golazo as Benfica grabbed a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Eusébio Cup on Friday.
With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Mesut Özil or Sami Khedira still unavailable to give their contribute to the team, a second string Madrid side struggled to create difficulties to the Portuguese outfit.
Benfica stormed into the lead on home soil after just five minutes through Javi García, but a quickfire double from José Callejón turned the game on its head with 20 minutes gone.
However, Benfica drew level moments later through Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel before taking control of the match in the second half.
Eight minutes into the second-half, the home side surged ahead in outrageous fashion.
A short corner was worked to Pérez near the right byline, who bent a speculative effort past the despairing fingertips of the Madrid goalkeeper Adán and into the top corner.
Madrid coach José Mourinho did not look amused on the touchline, and his displeasure increased further after Benfica scored again twice through Carlos Martins and Pérez to put the result firmly out of Madrid's reach.
