Goal of the day: Alcardo van Graan (Ajax CT) vs Man United
Table of Contents
Alcardo van Graan's 86th-minute audacious back-heeled goal nearly gave a shock win for Ajax Cape Town against Manchester United in a friendly game on Saturday.
While United kept possession for lengthy periods at the start of the match, they did not trouble former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld in Ajax goal.
It was a largely uneventful game, which did not spark to life until the final 10 minutes.
As United’s young defence began to tire, Ajax went ahead four minutes from the death through substitute van Graan, who had been on the pitch only moments before.
A poor corner from Khama Billiat found its way to van Graan, who, with his back to goal, back heeled the ball to loop over Ben Amos into the United net.
It was a goal that worthy of winning any game, and it looked to heading that way.
But United refused to lose, and deep into injury time forgotten man Bébé was in the right place to sweep home the equaliser.
