Will Kitching was just 14 years old when a coach told him he needed to lose weight, leading the 16-year-old to drop down to 84 pounds.

And his father Gary, wrote to Beckham, asking if he would meet his son to help his recovery.

The former England skipper was moved by Gary's story and he invited Will to meet him and his Galaxy teammates as a birthday treat last June.

After a pep talk, Becks posed for pictures with Will and autographed his gold-coloured boots.

Will said on his Facebook account: "just had the best and most emotional day of my life, by far the best 16th birthday present any lad could ever have, dad you are my idol and i dig everything about you. They say all good things come in threes youve seen 2 and i promised david i would never show or sell the other !"

His dad added: "the gods were smiling,so was will, me and david . take a look at the photos ,will smiling the most, cant believe what david did 4 u will!!!!!!!!"

The boy is now on the mend and is a healthy eight stone.
