Russia remain on course for a quarter-final place in Euro 2012 following an engrossing 1-1 draw against co-hosts Poland in Group A on Tuesday.
Eugen Polanski thought he had put Poland ahead in the 19th minute after he drilled a low shot beyond Vyacheslav Malafeev, but his effort was correctly judged offside.
With the visitors enjoying their best spell of the game, they took the lead on 37 minutes when Alan Dzagoev diverted Andrei Arshavin's free-kick past Przemyslaw Tyton.
But Poland restored parity in the 57th when Jakub Blaszczykowski cut in from the right and sent a searing left-foot drive into the far corner of the goal.
As the value of a winner increased as each minute passed neither side was able to find a telling moment in the final exchanges as both goalkeepers were left relatively untroubled in the closing stages.
The result leaves Russia at the summit of Group A with four points, while the co-hosts lie third with two after Czech Republic defeated Greece.
Lineups:
Poland: Przemysław Tytoń; Łukasz Piszczek, Marcin Wasilewski, Damien Perquis, Sebastian Boenisch; Dariusz Dudka (Adrian Mierzejewski, 73), Eugen Polanski (Adam Matuszczyk, 85); Jakub Błaszczykowski, Rafał Murawski, Ludovic Obraniak (Paweł Brożek, 90); Robert Lewandowski
Russia: Vyacheslav Malafeev; Aleksandr Anyukov, Aleksei Berezutski, Sergei Ignashevich, Yuri Zhirkov; Roman Shirokov, Igor Denisov, Konstantin Zyryanov; Alan Dzagoev (Marat Izmailov, 79), Aleksandr Kerzhakov (Roman Pavlyuchenko, 70), Andrei Arshavin
