Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has allegedly ignored the request for an autograph from a 10-year-old girl because she was wearing a Barcelona shirt.
The letter read as follows:
"Good morning,
"I wish I could look into the eyes and tell Cristiano Ronaldo he has lost a fan, however insignificant it may seem.
"I will explain what happened.
"Today my 10 year old daughter usually has football practice, but it was cancelled because the Portugal national team was preparing (for Euro 2012) at the same training facilities. Accordingly we took the opportunity to see the football idols up close and personal.
"Unfortunately my happy and fun daughter was left sad and dejected. When I asked her what was wrong just shrugged and said, 'Cristiano did not want to sign me an autograph because I was wearing the Barcelona shirt.'
"I did not know what to say. The shirt was bought a souvenir on a trip to Barcelona. If the trip had been to Madrid, we would have got her a Real jersey.
"It was painful to see the disappointment in the eyes of my daughter. It was hard to explain to a 10 year old, who had spent the past two weeks getting excited about seeing her idol, why she had been shunned.
"I needed to tell this story, so thank you very much for listening."
