Goal of the day: Rory Fallon (Aberdeen) vs Hibernian
Table of Contents
Rory Fallon scored a wonder goal but failed to prevent Aberdeen from losing 2-1 to Hibernian in Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.
An early goal from Gary O'Connor handed Hibs a first half lead but Fallon leveled just before the hour mark with a stunning volley.
The move started with Mark Reynolds, whose long ball looking for Fraser Fyvie's run was headed out by Hibs right-back Matt Doherty.
But the ball fell to Fallon who chested the ball down 25 yards out before hit a volley that looped and dipped and left Graham Stack pawing thin air as he vainly dived backwards.
With five minutes remaining, though, Leigh Griffiths scored the winner to send Hibs into the Scottish Cup final next month.
Afterwards Fallon said: "We are out of the cup but I know when it came to the pressure situation I know that I did my job."
