Goal of the day: Adrián (Atlético Madrid) vs Hannover
Table of Contents
Adrián struck with an impressive solo effort to inspire Atlético Madrid to a 2-1 win at Hannover 96 on Thursday and end the Germans' Europa League dream.
With the tie finely balanced from the first leg in Madrid last week, the game did not open up until 63 minutes when Adrián made the breakthrough.
The Spanish striker latched on to a long pass played over the top and muscled Hannover defender Emanuel Pogatetz off the ball.
Adrián then drifted inside and spun away from Christian Pander before drawing goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler out of position.
When Zieler over committed, Adrián slipped past him, beat Pander once more before slotting the ball into the net.
A goal from Mame Biram Diouf nine minutes from time did give the home side hope until Radamel Falcao sealed the win with three minutes to go.
