Crazy scenes played out in Italy on Tuesday when, on his day off, Mario Balotelli made an unexpected appearance at Andrea Stramaccioni's first press conference as Inter Milan coach.
Stramaccioni was promoted from youth team coach to guide the senior side as a replacement for Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked on Monday.
At the press conference to announce this change, though, there was an interruption as just Stramaccioni was beginning to speak to journalists, Balotelli entered the press room and the cameras' attention was diverted.
The Manchester City forward shook Stramaccioni's hand and those of other people at the podium before leaving the press conference amidst a bit of laughter from the crowd.
Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo said afterwards: "We did not know he was coming but it's not the first time. It's typical of Mario."
