A brilliant goal from Sebastián Coates was little consolation as Liverpool threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Queens Park Rangers.
The Reds started the game well but did not take the lead until 10 minutes after the restart and in sumptuous style.
Bobby Zamora cleared Stewart Downing's effort off the line into the path of defender Coates, who essayed a scissor kick from 12 yards that flew past Paddy Kenny for his first Liverpool goal.
A tap in from Dirk Kuyt had given the visiting Reds a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes to play before the home side staged one of the most dramatic comebacks in Premier League history.
Shaun Derry, Djibril Cissé and substitute Jamie Mackie scored in the final 13 minutes to snatch the victory that took them out of the bottom three.
