Colorado Rapids substitute Quincy Amarikwa scored with a fantastic strike in the dying minutes to seal a 2-0 home win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
Drew Moor's header in the 44th minute opened the scoring for an inspired Rapids side playing their first match under new head coach Óscar Pareja.
And second half substitute Amarikwa put the result beyond doubt in the 89th minute with a goal of the year candidate.
After controlling a pass outside the area on the left side, Amarikwa dribbled around a few defenders before blasting a high shot across the goal and into Andy Gruenebaum's top right corner.
The goal was Amarikwa's first since scoring in the second game of the 2011 season at Chivas USA.
"Any goal feels good," Amarikwa said of the highlight reel goal. "Regardless if you hit it upper v, or hit it off your shin or your knee and it trickles in. They all feel the same."
Coach Pareja added: "It was a golazo. It was amazing. Great goal for him - he deserves it."
