Premier League: Man United 2-1 Liverpool

Wayne Rooney's two goals in three second-half minutes proved enough to hand Manchester United a 2-1 victory against Liverpool in a hostile encounter at Old Trafford.
The first half had seen little goalmouth activity but that all changed within a couple of minutes of the restart as Rooney volleyed beyond Pepe Reina from close range following a flick-on at a corner.
Rooney added a second in the 50th minute when he coolly slotted his 17th Premier League goal of the season after a mistake by Jay Spearing had been seized upon by Antonio Valencia.
United were looking comfortable until an innocuous free-kick into the penalty area was mis-controlled by Rio Ferdinand, allowing Luis Suárez to bring the away team back into the game from inside the six-yard box.
