Goal of the day: Benny Feilhaber (New England) vs LA Galaxy
Table of Contents
Benny Feilhaber scored an acrobatic, bicycle kick goal as the New England Revolution triumphed over the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 during the first game of the Desert Diamond Cup on Wednesday.
On paper, the defending champions may have had the clear edge, but it was the New England that surprised the Tucson crowd moments after the opening whistle.
Feilhaber floated up in the middle of the box and, while upside down, struck the ball perfectly to send it into the net and past bewildered Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders.
"You don't get those very often," Feilhaber said after the game.
"It was a little bit of luck. It bounced up and came perfectly to me. I did as best I could to concentrate on keeping it on target."
