Italy were unconvincing as they moved to within one victory of qualifying for the European Championship next summer with a narrow 1-0 victory away to the Faroe Islands.
Antonio Cassano scored the lone goal of the game in the 11th minute when he raced onto Andrea Pirlo's pass to chest down and somehow smuggle the ball past Islands goalkeeper René Tórgard before tapping home into an empty net.
