APOEL Nicosia struck twice in the space of three second-half minutes to see off defeat 10-man Zenit St Petersburg 2-1 at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
After an even first hour, the visitors grabbed the lead through Konstantin Zyryanov, who finished after a great 63rd minute run from Danny.
But APOEL netted twice in quick succession thereafter when Gustavo Manduca volleyed home a 73rd-minute equaliser from the left of the area before setting up Aílton to curl a second low inside the far post from 18 yards.
Zenit's hopes of equalising were dashed a minute later when Bruno Alves was sent off with a second yellow for a cynical challenge on Aílton who was through on goal.
