Premier League: Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland
Table of Contents
A much changed Liverpool side kicked off their new Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland.
Having missed a fifth-minute penalty Luis Suárez made amends seven minutes later by heading in a free-kick from Charlie Adam - one of three summer signings in the starting line-up.
But Sunderland hit back 12 minutes into the second-half as Ahmed Elmohamady hung up a deep cross to the far post and Sebastian Larsson found himself in enough space to crash an acrobatic volley past a stranded Pepe Reina.
