Construction has started in Bursa, northwestern Turkey, where Bursaspor's awe-inspiring new 45,000-seat stadium, complete with a giant crocodile on the roof, is being erected.
The Timsah Arena will boast state-of-the-art facilities and will totally transform the central suburb of Osmangazi, in the club's home city of Bursa.
The distinctive design, which is designed to resemble a crocodile, was produced by Bursa-based practice Sozuneri Architects and pays tribute to Bursaspor, nicknamed the Green Crocodiles.
The structure is somewhat unusual, with a three tiered west stand, a two tiered east stand, and two vertigo-inducing sloping end zone stands.
This is apparently to fit in with the topography of a tight area for redevelopment.
Planning videos released by developers show sweeping panoramic shots of the stadium.
