Stewart Downing pictured with Liverpool scarf: True or Fake?

Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing has been apparently pictured holding a Liverpool scarf in a bar - although the image has been denied as a fake by Villa officials.
The picture circulated on Twitter on Tuesday morning and appeared to show the 27-year-old holding the scarf with Reds' striker Andy Carroll and a fan.
But within hours club officials had contacted the winger, currently on holiday, to confirm it was fake.
Villa spokesman Brian Doogan told the Birmingham Mail: "I've seen the picture and I spoke to him, he had heard about it, someone else had told him.
"He said it was absolutely not real, he did not stand there with a Liverpool scarf."
Paul Ince infamously posed in a Manchester United shirt in 1989 before joining the Red Devils from West Ham and many Hammers fans never forgave him.
