Gonzalo Higuaín scored a hat-trick and Kaká bagged a brace as Real Madrid thrashed Valencia 6-3 in an extraordinary match at the Mestalla.
José Mourinho's troops raced into a 4-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Karim Benzema, Kaká and a Higuaín double.
Higuaín secured his hat-trick in the 53rd minute and Kaká answered Roberto Soldado's goal on the hour mark with an individual effort on 62 minutes.
With the game already out of reach, Valencia managed to improve the scoreline as Juan Mata found Jonas to slot home in the 80th minute before Jordi Alba added the host's third goal with five minutes left.
