Table of Contents
Barcelona remain firmly on course for a third successive La Liga title after a 1-1 draw against 10-man Real Madrid in the first of four El Clásicos in 18 days.
After a goalless first period, Lionel Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute after Real defender Raúl Albiol sent off for hauling David Villa down inside the area.
But José Mourinho's men continued to fight and they were rewarded with eight minutes remaining when Cristiano Ronaldo beat goalkeeper Víctor Valdés from the spot-kick after Marcelo was fouled by his fellow Brazilian Daniel Alves in the box.
