We've seen some crazy fighting from amateur and semi-pro level games, but as far as the highest levels of soccer go, this brawl takes the cake.
The ugly side of South American soccer emerged at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Buenos Aires in a free-for-all between the Argentinos Juniors and Fluminense players after the final whistle.
Fluminense were leading 3-2 when the referee granted a controversial penalty after a clear dive by Fluminense's Edinho.
Fred stepped up to dispatch the spot-kick and send the Brazilian side through to the last 16 ahead of Nacional on goals scored.
Unfortunately the final goal sparked chaos after the final whistle as the two teams clashed and threw punches, with Argentinos goalkeeper Nicolás Navarro, who was upset at the penalty decision, at the heart of it.
"Nothing justifies the violence," Argentinos Juniors coach Pedro Troglio told Fox Sports.
